The 2011 Charger May Just be a Time Machine

If you loved the look of the Dodge Charger back in the 1960s, you are going to fall in love with the 2011 Charger. It features a retro-style design that is reflective of those very early models. For many, it will be a road of nostalgia where they fondly remember their days of driving such a vehicle.

Not everyone has the time or the ability to restore an older model. However, they will love the chance to hop into the 2011 Dodge Charger and drive it around. There are five models to pick from for the 2011 year and that means consumers can get exactly what they want. Dodge realized that the Charger isn’t a one-size-fits-all concept when it comes to owning a great-looking muscle car that offers as much power as the Charger does. There are also plenty of gorgeous colors to select from to make the vehicle physically pleasing to the consumer.

Not only does the 2011 Dodge Charger offer a retro style like the 1960s version but it also offers additional perks. Technology available in vehicles has come a long way since those early days. For a muscle car, the 2011 Charger offers excellent fuel mileage at about 26 mpg. This is standard on all the models that are offered.

That is certainly an improvement over the Dodge Charger of the 1960s. The engine is high performance with amazing fuel-injection technology. Other great features include disc brakes, heated seats, keyless entry and advanced safety features.

Now you can get the great look and feel of the older model but with the modern features. That combination is definitely going to encourage consumers to get their hands on this model of the Charger as soon as they can.

The 1966 Dodge Charger Meant the Fastback Style with Plenty of Power

One of the reasons why the 1966 Dodge Charger was so popular is due to its fastback style. That, combined with the steering power of this vehicle, was a winning combination that was just too good to pass up. Today you will find that the fastback models from the early years are worth a great deal. They are found at car shows as well as for sale in the classic car marketplace for a premium price.

The fastback coupe style was already in the past when the 1966 Dodge Charger revamped it and brought it back. The speed was exceptional and that was what drew many consumers in. This vehicle was seen on the racing circuit – both on the tracks and on the streets – both in 1966 and 1967.

The market for the 1966 Dodge Charger was strong and that was important for Chrysler. In the early 1960s, the automaker seemed to really struggle to get their vehicles to impress consumers. They had moved away from the rounded looks of the 1950s. They brought in new designers to help them improve sales. Even though other models were using the fastback style, Dodge combined it with a powerful engine to give it more selling power than their competitors. The outcome was the highly successful 1966 Dodge Charger, which carved out its own niche in the muscle car market.

The only engine option for the 1966 Dodge Charger was a V8. This was the first year that NASCAR was interested in the vehicle. However, it didn’t last long there due to the rear end lifting and making it slide around the corners of the track. Still, that recognition would be enough to get the general consumer very interested in owning such a vehicle. The introduction of the spoiler was to improve traction at higher speeds for the late 1966 models.

If you are looking for an amazing vehicle in the classic muscle car category that can do a great job of performance and style, then you need to investigate the 1966 Dodge Charger. Even though the Charger has been revamped and looks just as great today as it did in the earlier models, you just can’t replace the concept of such an outstanding classic.

The History of the 1965 Dodge Charger

Many experts in the history of the American muscle car will place the era when these cars dominated culture to have begun in 1964. That is the year that Pontiac put the GTO on the market. It did not take Dodge long to pick up the challenge to try to make their mark in this huge new market when they introduced the Charger in 1965. For good reasons, the 1965 Dodge Charger generated some buzz at auto shows and Dodge set to work putting them on the street.

Every breakthrough innovation has a genius at the design phase and for the 1965 Dodge Charger, that designer was Carl Cameron. Cameron knew that a good muscle car was all about power and style, which is why he made car buyers drool with four luxurious bucket seats front and back to make a statement that this car was to redefine the word “cool.”

Just because the 1965 Dodge Charger was a classy ride, that didn’t mean it cut corners on power. Buyers were given the option of investing in some real horsepower in the form of a variety of V8 engines, one of which was the 426 Street Hemi, which was setting a new standard in muscle car engine design of that era.

Dodge was eager to see what the powerful 1965 Dodge Charger could do, so they got it into the NASCAR circuit in short order. As it often true when cars are tested at NASCAR, Dodge found areas of improvement and they jumped right on them. One design improvement that made the 1965 Dodge Charger an even more desirable muscle car was a rear end spoiler that was added to help with stability problems having to do with the aerodynamic design of the muscle car.

That enhancement not only improved traction and stability, it became such a popular option that Dodge began to offer the spoiler as an option on the street model of the 1965 Dodge Charger, which was something very new on the muscle car scene. That was not the last NASCAR saw of this impressive car, which returned to the circuit for many wins. It had already won over the hearts of muscle car lovers of the time, as it continues to do today for anyone who loves to collect muscle cars from that exciting era when the 1965 Dodge Charger took the streets.
